Benefits

CIBS members enjoy the benefits of belonging to Long Island’s leading network of real estate industry service professionals. Benefits include:

CONNECTION WITH OTHER BROKERS

First and foremost is the industry connection CIBS affords brokers on Long Island. In a field that has always been perceived as 'every man for himself,' CIBS has successfully fostered a camaraderie among brokers that has won the praise of its broker and associate members as well as having proved useful in conducting business. CIBS allows you to stay in touch.

EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS

The CIBS educational breakfast meetings are very well attended by CIBS members and guests because the topics are always of interest and value to the real estate community and related industries on Long Island.

DIALOGUE AMONG MEMBERS

CIBS provides a forum for positive dialogue, and through this, a high level of cooperation is achieved. CIBS has made communications among the commercial/industrial real estate community more meaningful.

SOCIAL

Other benefits of CIBS membership are its social aspects. Our Annual Golf Outing in June, which raises money for charity, attracts golf lovers of every skill level. Our annual 'Meet Your Associates Cocktail Reception' is the event of the season you won't want to miss. It's for members only and it's free.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

CIBS members receive a discount on courses conducted by the Real Estate Practitioner's Institute of Long Island located at C.W. Post College.

CIBS MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY

CIBS re-issues and updates its printed membership directory annually. The CIBS directory lists alphabetically by individual member, all brokers' and associate members' phones, faxes, street addresses, e-mail and web addresses, facilitating communication among members.

CIBS WEB SITE

You can stay in touch with all that is going on at CIBS by logging on to our web site at www.CIBS-LI.org. See the entire CIBS membership directory on line, find out about its officers, board of directors, committee activities and events. Read past newsletters, news of our members and much more. Through the web site you are also able to click on Properties for access to all the properties CIBS members have to offer, as well as announcing special upcoming events such as open houses. For complete information about the organization, make the CIBS web site one of your regular destinations.

Special Benefit to Associate Members: CIBS publishes articles by associate members about their businesses on our web site and in our newsletter in addition to linking to linking to your web site.

CIBS NEWSLETTER

Through its monthly newsletter, CIBS members are supplied with a great deal of important information, i.e. review of recent meetings, upcoming events, the President's monthly message, a CIBS calendar and other vital information. Liberally interspersed with photographs of members and friends, the CIBS newsletter is required reading for all members. The newsletter is also mailed to all ABLI members, Real Estate Practitioners Institute board members, key government officials and media contacts.

ABLI LIAISON

The ABLI/CIBS Annual Long Island Real Estate Dinner held every April is one of our most exciting real estate-related social events. Past speakers have included The Honorable Rudolph Giuliani, Mayor of New York City and Governor George Pataki. This is the event where the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Most Ingenious Broker Deal of the Year Award are presented. Discounted tickets to the dinner for CIBS members go a long way towards defraying the already modest CIBS membership fee.

ABLI (Association for a Better Long Island) has graciously included CIBS members among invited guests to its Annual December Holiday Party. There is no charge to CIBS members for this event.

COMMUNITY CONSCIOUSNESS

One of the most special and personally satisfying endeavors is our participation in the Annual Big Brothers/Big Sisters 'Holidays for Kids Sake'. Gifts of food, toys and clothing are presented to social worker-recommended families in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. 'Holidays for Kids' Sake' is an activity that makes everyone feel good, rewarding givers as much, or more, than those who receive.

ETHICS, MEDIATION AND ARBITRATION

Every CIBS Member is required to accept the CIBS Code of Ethics and agree to mandatory Mediation using CIBS' Mediation and Arbitration process. The CIBS alternate dispute resolution forum was designed by the brokers to resolve disputes in a streamlined and cost effective manner. When you avail yourself of the CIBS Mediation and Arbitration process, issues will be addressed by professionals who have the requisite experience to bring disputes to an expeditious and just resolution.
