PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE

Doug Omstrom

Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2002 to all members and your families!
I was delighted with the enthusiastic turnout for the Big Brothers Big Sisters “Christmas For Kids Sake” which was held on December 23, 2001. It is wonderful how landlords, attorneys and CIBS members were able to work together to bring food and gifts to over 100 needy families on Long Island.
We hope to see you on January 24th at 8 am for our first educational seminar to be held at 395-495 N. Service Road, Melville. Our special guests will be Jan Burman and Jack O’Connor with Andrea Lohneiss from Town of Riverhead. They will be discussing the deal-making process regarding the purchase of over 490 acres in Calverton by Burman Properties. In addition, Co-Star will do a short presentation and answer any questions you may have regarding their services.
We invite all Year 2001 CIBS members to review your Long Island transactions for the past calendar year and submit any deal which you consider appropriate for your candidacy for the “Most Ingenious Deal” award. This exciting award, as you know, is a yearly tribute, presented at the annual ABLI-CIBS Real Estate Dinner. The event will take place on April 11 at 6 pm at the Huntington Hilton Hotel in Melville. We look forward to seeing you there and to receiving your submission for “Most Ingenious Deal.”
Please Note: All submissions must be received by March 1, 2002 to be eligible. (See affidavit and guidelines on this site)
I look forward to 2002 as a year of increasing CIBS membership with new and exciting educational programs. Please remember to renew your membership and encourage your associates and friends to join the organization. We hope to see you often during the year. And, as always, if you have any suggestions, please call me at 516-364-2900.

CIBS PARTICIPATES in UNITED WAY of L.I.
“WALKWAY of HOPE”
BRICK CAMPAIGN
by Philip Shwom
Charitable Contributions Chair
CIBS has made significant contributions to United Way coffers over the past few years, sharing generously the proceeds of its Golf Outings. So when United Way approached the Commercial–Industrial Brokers Society to help in their efforts to make the “Walkway of Hope” Brick Campaign a success, your Board of Directors agreed to support the fund-raiser by participating in this worthwhile endeavor. The style of “brick” chosen for purchase is an 8 x 8 inch polished black granite tile upon which the CIBS logo and the words Commercial-Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island will be etched (see graphic depiction to the right).
CIBS wishes to congratulate United Way on its new headquarters and on the continuing success of its brick campaign.
